Corey Spinks is an American professional boxer who was born on February 20, 1978 in St. Louis, Missouri. Corey came from a family of professional boxers. His father, Leon Spinks was a former heavyweight champion who defeated Muhammad Ali in the 1978 World Heavyweight championships. His uncle, Michael Spinks was also a former lightweight and heavyweight champion. He also has two other brothers who were also pro boxers, Leon Calvin and Darrell Spinks.

He got interested in boxing at the age of 7. Charles Hamm was the founder of the North Side Bombers trained the Corey and his two other brothers.

Corey became a household name in boxing when he won all four major titles in a boxing match against Ricardo Mayorga on December 13, 2003. These major welterweight titles were the WBC, WBA, IBF, and Ring Magazine.

By April 2004, Corey made is first successful defense against Zab Judah. Both boxers faced again a year after on February 2005, and this time, he lost the title to Judah. The fight was held at the Sawis Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Spinks moved up a weight call to Super-Welterweight and fought Roam Karmazine on July 2006. Then he moved up to Middleweight class to fight Jermain Taylor, however, Spinks lost. By 2008, he lost to a fight against Verno Philips at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. In April 2009, he faced DeAndre "The Bull" Latimore in a boxing match and won the title. He also won the vacant IBF Jr. middleweight world championship title in that same year.
