Luiz Collazo
Luis Collazo is a boxer in the welterweight division who was born on April 22, 1981 in Brooklyn, New York with a Puerto Rican origin. He used to hold the WBA Welterweight title when he won it over defending champion Jose Antonio Rivera. However, there was a change made by the WBA and declared Cory Spinks as the Undisputed champion which stripped Collazo of the title. Then Zab Judah fought and took the title from Spinks. By January 2006, Judah lost the title to Carlos Baldomir in New York. Then, the WBA Undisputed title was vacated after Baldomir chose WBC only. Since Judah lost the title, Collazo was pronounced as the WBA's welterweight champion.
By May 2006, Collazo faced Ricky Hatton and lost the title. By the following year, in 2007, he fought Sugar Shane Mosley. During the fight, his hand got injured. He took a break to recover from the injury. Then he made a comeback on January 2008 at the Roy Jones Jr. vs. Felix Trinidad fight. He faced Edvan Dos Santos Barron and won. The fight was at the Madison Square Gardens. A few months later, by September 2008, he fought Russell Jordan at the Mosley vs. Mayorga undercard. Collazo fought for the WBC Welterweight title against the undefeated Andre Berto by January 2009, and lost the fight.
