The Argentine boxer, Julio Pablo Chacon, a former WBO Featherweight Title holder, also attempted to take the title from Norwood, but he failed to do so. The former IBF and WBA Featherweight title holder Juan Manual Marquez of Mexico also faced Norwood but was not able to take the title.
Fellow American Derrick Gainer faced Norwood for the title and successfully won the title. After Norwood’s defeat, he decided to retire.
Norwood made a comeback in 2006. He fought against Johnny Edwards but was disqualified due to the low blows he gave to Edwards. They had a rematch in 2008 and Edwards won by a knockout in the 7th round.
