Cecilia Carmen Linda Braekhus was born on September 28, 1981, in Cartagena, Colombia. The Norwegian fighter is 171 cm tall and has a wingspan of 170 cm.She competed primarily in the Welterweight division before moving up to Super Welterweight late in her career. She fought from an orthodox position and was adopted by Norwegian parents at the age of two, growing up in Bergen. She holds the distinction of being the first woman in any weight class to hold the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles simultaneously.
Career
Braekhus began her professional campaign in January 2007 with a unanimous decision victory. She dominated the Welterweight division for over a decade, making 25 consecutive successful title defenses.Her reign as undisputed champion began in 2014 when she defeated Ivana Habazin to unite all four major belts, a status she maintained until 2020.
After losing her undisputed crown to Jessica McCaskill in 2020 and dropping the rematch in 2021, Braekhus moved up in weight. She captured the WBC Interim Super Welterweight title in August 2024 by defeating Maricela Cornejo via unanimous decision in Las Vegas.
In October 2025, Braekhus fought her farewell bout in front of a home crowd in Lillestrøm, Norway. She challenged unified champion Ema Kozin for the WBC and WBO Super Welterweight World Titles. In a masterful performance, Braekhus won a unanimous decision to become a two-division world champion in her final professional fight, retiring on top of the sport.
