He struggled early in his career, losing three of his first five fights, but rebounded to build a respectable record.He faced high-level opposition as he climbed the ranks, suffering competitive losses to future world champions Alexandro Santiago (majority decision) and Paul Butler (split decision) in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
His perseverance paid off in December 2024, when he fought Rene Calixto Bibiano to a split draw for the vacant IBF Junior Bantamweight Title in Japan. In their rematch in May 2025, Garcia defeated Bibiano by split decision in Zacatecas, Mexico, to finally capture the IBF World Title.
