Espinoza began his professional campaign in February 2013 and won his first 23 fights, 19 by knockout.His career is defined by his rivalry with two-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramírez. In December 2023, Espinoza entered as a significant underdog and won the WBO Featherweight Title from Ramírez in a "Fight Of The Year" contender, winning a majority decision despite being knocked down in the fifth round.
He solidified his championship status by winning their rematch in December 2024, stopping Ramírez in the sixth round. Espinoza has also made successful title defenses against Sergio Chirino Sanchez and Edward Vazquez.
