He followed this with wins against John Bauza and Jose Zepeda in 2023.
His career is defined by a rivalry with fellow undefeated champion Liam Paro. In December 2024, Hitchins defeated Paro by split decision to capture the IBF Light Welterweight World Title.
He made his first successful title defense in June 2025 with a TKO victory over former unified Lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr..
