Career
Ortiz Jr. began his professional campaign in 2016 following a decorated amateur run that saw him win seven National Championships. He made his debut on July 30, 2016, with a first-round knockout of Julio Rodas.He began his career with a long knockout streak, and in 2019, he was named Prospect Of The Year by The Ring magazine. In March 2021, he won the vacant WBO International Welterweight Title by defeating Maurice Hooker. He defended this title against Egidijus Kavaliauskas and Michael Mckinson.
After moving up in weight, Ortiz Jr. won the WBC Interim Super Welterweight title in August 2024 with a majority decision victory over Serhii Bohachuk. He successfully defended the interim title against Israil Madrimov in February 2025.
