Career

Tete turned pro in May 2006. His first fight was a win against Andile Solani. He won his first title in September 2007. It was the World Boxing Foundation World Flyweight title, which he won after beating Vicky Tahumil.

He successfully defended that title twice against Xolani Ntese and Francis Miyeyusho, both in 2008. His first professional loss came in September 2009. It was against Moruti Mthalane and cost him the chance at the IBF World Flyweight title.

In July 2014, he won the IBF World Super Flyweight title when he beat Teiru Kinoshita. In March 2015, he successfully defended this against Paul Butler. In March 2016, he switched to the Bantamweight division and won the IBF International Bantamweight title against Jose Santos Gonzalez.

In April 2017, he won the WBO Interim World Bantamweight title after beating Arthur Villanueva. In November 2017, he picked up the WBO World Bantamweight title and successfully defended it twice until he lost it to John Riel Casimero in November 2019.

In July 2022, he beat Jason Cunningham for the Commonwealth Boxing Council Super Bantamweight, IBF International Super Bantamweight, and the WBO International Super Bantamweight titles.
