Joe Cordina is an active professional boxer from Wales. He is a former two-time IBF Super Featherweight World Champion and a 2016 Olympian.

Joe Cordina was born on December 1, 1991, in Cardiff, Wales. The Welsh fighter is 175 cm tall and has a wingspan of the same 175 cm.

He has competed in the Lightweight and Super Featherweight divisions. He fights from an orthodox position and is based in his hometown of Cardiff.

Career

Cordina began his professional campaign in April 2017, following a decorated amateur career where he won gold at the 2015 European Championships and bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

He captured his first world title in spectacular fashion in June 2022, knocking out Kenichi Ogawa with a single right hand in the second round to win the IBF Super Featherweight belt. He was later stripped of this title due to an injury that forced him to withdraw from a mandatory defense.

In April 2023, Cordina reclaimed the same IBF Title in a "Fight of The Year" contender against Shavkat Rakhimov, winning a close split decision.

His career is also defined by a rivalry with Anthony Cacace. In May 2024, Cordina suffered his first professional defeat, losing his IBF Title to Cacace via an eighth-round TKO.
