He turned pro in September 2013 and before his loss to Josh Taylor in February 2022, he had an undefeated record.Catterall’s first professional fight was against Carl Allen. His first professional title was the BBBofC Central Area Super Lightweight title, which he picked up in July 2014 after defeating Nathan Brough. In October of the same year, he won the WBO European Super Light title after he won against Thomas Stalker.
In March 2015, he won the WBO Inter-Continental Super Light title. He successfully defended this thrice in the same year. The first time was in July against Gabriel Fernando Punalef Calfin and in October against Jarkko Putkonen. He also defended it against Jesus Nunez Rodriguez in December of that same year.
He managed to defend this title through October 2018. His last successful defense of the title was against Ohara Davies. In February 2022, he lost the chance to win a number of titles when he lost to Taylor.
