Career
He won his first professional fight on August 30, 2008, against Sergio Chavez in Hermosillo in Sonora, Mexico. It was held at the Expo Forum. He had two more fights that year.From 2009 to mid-2012, he had 24 professional fights. His first loss came in 2011 when he lost to Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr.. His second loss came in November 2012. It was against Roman Gonzales. That loss also lost him the chance at the WBA World Light Flyweight.
He won his first title in 2013 after he defeated Brian Viloria. That win awarded him the WBA Super World Flyweight title and the WBO World Flyweight title. In July of that year, he defended both titles against Milan Melindo.
In 2014, he defended the title twice against Richie Mepranum and Giovani Segura. He defended the title twice more in 2015. In 2018, he won the WBC World Super Flyweight Title. He defended this title in April 2019 against Wisaksil Wagnek and then in August of that year against Dewayne Beamon.
In 2021 he picked up the WBA Super World Superfly Title when he beat Roman Gonzalez. In 2022, he won his rematch with Gonzalez.
