He is nicknamed “MiniBurgos” about his uncle Victor Burgos. Victor was a former professional boxer and Flyweight World Champion.

Career

Burgos made his professional debut in January 2010 against Juan Carlos Martinez. Burgos won that fight. He won his next fight against Ricardo Castillo. Unfortunately, he lost his first attempt at a world title against Hozumi Hasegawa in November 2010.

After that, he had several fights before going for a title again, this time for the World Boxing Council Silver Super Feather title and the World Boxing Organisation Latino Super Feather Title against Luis Cruz. He defended this title a couple of times before fights against Roman Martinez and Yakubu Amidu ended in draws.

He eventually lost the title to Mickey Garcia in 2014. In 2018, he won the IBF North American Light Title. A couple of years later in 2020, he won the WBC US Light Title over Hector Tanajara. He had a couple of losses in 2021. In 2022, he is scheduled to fight against Angel Fierro in March. This is for the WBO NABO Light Title.
