Currently holding the WBO light-middleweight title, Brian Carlos Castano is a professional boxer from Argentina. Considered to be one of the elite-level boxers, he has already won a world title and is on a mission to continue succeeding. He is working on becoming a two-time world champion in the 154-pound division.

Brian Castano’s interest in boxing started at the age of five (5) because of his father’s influence. His father was a professional welterweight boxer. So, he grew up surrounded by boxers. Being with his father, encouraged him to reject street life because he grew up in a neighborhood where many youngsters his age died as a result of the drug trade.

Castano started competing in local tournaments. As an amateur player, he compiled a record of 181-5-5. Castano also won a gold medal during the South American Games. Among the highlights of his amateur career was defeating Errol Spence, an American professional boxer, and Esquiva Falcao, a silver medalist during the 2012 Olympic Games.

During the World Series of Boxing, Brian Castano represented his country, Argentina. He was able to accumulate a 3-0 record, including his famous defeat against Sergiy Derevyanchenko. After his win against Derevyanchenko, he made his professional career debut on September 12.

The debut of Castano in professional boxing was to defeat Alejandro Domingez and Jose Carlos Paz in a technical knockout (TKO). In 2013, he manages to gain three more victories. Since then, Castano continued playing, and in July 2021, he faced Jermell Charlo, the unified light middleweight champion. It was a competitive fight, ending in a split draw. He was not satisfied with the result and is demanding a rematch.
