He won his first professional title in December 2012 the WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight title after beating Kelvin Price. He defended this title twice in 2013.
In 2015, he won the WBC World Heavyweight Title after beating Bermane Stiverne. From 2015 to 2019 he successfully defended this title 10 times. He lost it in February 2020 to Tyson Fury. In October 2021, he and Fury had a re-match but Wilder lost again.
