Bermane Stiverne is a Haitian and Canadian professional boxer. His most notable career achievement was when he held the WBC Heavyweight Title from 2014 to 2018. Some of the biggest names he has gone up against include Deontay Wilder, whom he fought twice.

He also went up against Joe Joyce and Trevor Bryan.

Stiverne was born on November 1, 1978, in Plaine-du-Nord in Haiti. He has 14 siblings, of whom he is the youngest. He is a fan of the National Basketball Association team, the Miami Heat.

Stiverne stands 6 feet 2 inches or 188 cm tall. His reach is longer than his height at 196 cm or 77 inches. He boxes in the Heavyweight category and his weight at listed at more than 200 lbs. or more than 90.72 kilograms. He has an orthodox stance and his knockout (KO) percentage is 84%.

Nicknamed, B Ware, Stiverne has had 31 fights throughout his professional career, winning 25. 21 of the fights he won, he won via KO.

Amateur Career

Stiverne’s amateur career started when he was 19 when he won the bronze at the 2003 and 2004 National Championships. He won the silver in the 2005 championships.

As an amateur player, his total fights is 59. He won 49 fights and lost 10.

Professional Boxing Career

For his first twelve fights, Stiverne was undefeated, knocking out his opponents with a left hook. One of his first losses was to Demetrice King, via Technical Knockout (TKO).

Working under promoter Don King, he would go on to win the vacant WBC USNBC, WBA Fedelatin, and WBC International Heavyweight Titles after he fought Kerston Manswell. In 2011, he would fight and win against Ray Austin. That win gave him the WBC Silver Heavyweight Title.

He would then go on to fight for the WBC Heavyweight Championship when it was vacated by Vitali Klitschko in 2013. He won the title after defeating fellow challenger Chris Areola. He made history by being the first Haitian-born boxer to hold a world heavyweight championship title.

As a Quebecois, he also holds the record for being the first Quebec resident to hold the title as well.

He held the title for 8 months, before losing it to Deontay Wilder.

Hyped Fights

Some of Stiverne fights include a canceled fight between him and Alexander Povetkin. They were to fight for the interim WBC Heavyweight Title. Stiverne withdrew from the fight after he tested positive for Methylhexanamine and Ostarine.

In 2017, a rematch with Deontay Wilder was held. This was for the WBC World Heavyweight Title. He was knocked out by Wilder during the first round.

Stiverne has also gone up against Joe Joyce and his most recent fight was against Trevor Bryan. He lost both rights.
