Zsolt Erdei
Zsolt Erdei coined as the Firebird/ Madár, lives and was born in Budapest Hungary in May 31, 1974. The 34-year-old boxer who is comfortable with the Orthodox stance is trained by Fritz Sdunek and managed by Klaus-Peter Kohl. He is the former World Boxing Organization Championship Title in the light heavyweight division and former WBC cruiserweight champion of the world. He looks up to Muhammad Ali and Istvan Kovacs as his boxing idols. Aside from boxing, he also likes fishing as a hobby.
In the 1996 Olympics, Erdei defeated Mexican boxer Juan Pablo Lopez but lost to Malik Beyleroglu from Turkey.
In 1997, Erdei earned the World Boxing Champion title in Budapest. He also was the European Champion in 1998 and 2000. He again joined the Sydney Summer Olympics in 2000 representing his country and won the bronze medal in the middleweight division. He defeated Vladislav Vizilter from Kyryzstan and Alexander Zubrikhin from Ukraine. Eventually he lost a fight to the Russian fighter Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov.
He garnered his amateur record of 192 wins and 20 defeats in his 212 fights.
In June 15 2007, he was given the award of the Super Champion status in the World Boxing Organization by the WBO president Francisco Valcrcel. Zsolt Erdei also achieved the WBO Inter-continental Light Heavyweight Champion in 2002 to 2003.
Erdei defended his WBO title three times. Two of which, he defeated the tough Hugo Hernan Garay from Argentina and Alejandro Lakatus. So far his best recorded fight was against Julio Ceasar Gonzalez which he won by a unanimous decision.
Known as the first Hungarian to ever win two world titles in two weight divisions, the 5 foot 10 inches fighter has a professional record of 32 fights with 17 knockouts and no defeats.
