Israel Vazquez
The Mexican professional boxer, Israel Vazquez Castaneda is the Ring Super Bantamweight/ Junior Featherweight champion.
Born on December 25, 1977 in Mexico, Magnifico, as he is fondly known became professional in 1995 at the bantamweight division. With an orthodox stance, he works well with his left hook. He won a fight against Oscar Larios with a 20-0 score and defeated other 10 opponents.
By the time he fought with Oscar Larios again in 2002, Vazquez was stopped in the 12th round. But he reclaimed the victory against Jorge Eliecer Julio, a former world title holder. In 2003, Vazquez as well earned the junior feather IBF when he defeated Jose Luis Valbuena.
After giving Artyom Simonyan of Armenia a knock out, he found himself fighting against Oscar Larios again for the WBC title for the third time in 2005, setting aside the IBF title in 2005. In the third round, he gave Larios an amazing knockout and received the Ring’s Super Bantamweight World Champion title.
In the following year, Vazquez again defeated Johnny Gonzalez, a former WBO Bantam champion. Gonzalez knocked down Vazquez twice but his strength gave way and Vazquez won.
In March 3, 2007, Vazquez lost a fight against Rafael Marquez because he forfeited the game due to an injured nose. A rematch took place after fourth months coining it as the 2007 Ring’s Magazine Fights of the Year. Vazquez knocked out Marquez in the sixth round.
Vazquez fought with Marquez again in March 1, 2008. The fight against Marquez has been popularly known as the best boxing trilogies in this generation.
As per record he fought 49 times and won 44 of the bouts with 32 victories via KO, and 5 losses.
Vazquez faced Marquez for the fourth time in May of 2010. This time, Vazquez lost during the third round via TKO to his opponent, evening their series at 2-2.
