Carina “La Reina” Moreno, with a professional record of 18 wins, 1 loss and 5 Knockouts, is dedicated more than ever on her pursuit in becoming the best female boxer today. She has become the three-time world champion and is the World Boxing Council Female Fighter of the Year, not to mention holding the reputation of a ten fight winning streak.
Moreno’s latest fight won her the victory over Eileen Olszewski (5-2) and earning her the International Female Boxing Association (IFBA) title. Moreno is determined to continue her victory especially that she moved up in weight and changed her fighting category. She claimed that she may not have the same confidence as she did with her last fights but she is focused and ready to do her best.
The champion of the minimumweight division will make her fifth defense of the WBC Title on August 21, 2008 at the Tachi Place Hotel Casino in Lemoore, California against Yahaira Martinez of Puerto Rica. Martinez has a professional record of 7-2, and 4 Knockouts and is considered to be one of the toughest fighters in the ring and even the most challenging so far for Moreno. Martinez is aware that she will be facing an unfriendly crowd, considering that she is coming from another country. Both women will aim for the vacant title of the Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) title.
