Edwin Valero and Manny Pacquiao have exchanged bitter comments about each other over numerous network broadcasts. However, after Manny defeated David Diaz in their last match, everyone is curious as to who will be Manny’s next opponent. Freddy Roach, Manny’s trainer, would like his boxer to move up a division and become a contender for an equally great boxer, Ricky Hatton. Such moves, however, will not be happening soon. If people are looking into 2008, Manny Pacquiao’s closest possible opponent would have to be the undefeated Edwin Valero.
Edwin Valero, proven to be a 100% knockout boxer, has been said never to fight against a boxer in the same caliber. Valero has been observed to be fighting many C-list players and on occasions B-list players. With many younger boxers approaching Valero’s title, it would only be reasonable for Valero to have a match against Manny Pacquiao. This fight would prove once and for all if Valero can still remain undefeated, if he will still be able to retain his 100% knockout rate and determine who the better boxer is.
While many of Manny’s fans might think that Manny has the upper hand, Freddy Roach insists that Valero should not be underestimated. Valero might be considered a slow player compared to Manny’s fast moves on the ring but Valero packs a lot of power in his punches. While Manny might have his fair share of knockouts, Freddy does not forget that Valero is still considered the knockout artist in boxing. While no official schedule has been set for a match between Manny and Valero, Freddy Roach thinks it’s better that Manny be careful and prepared.
