Takefumi Sakata along with World Boxing Champion Naito Daisuke was challenged by International Boxing Flyweight Champion, Nonito Donaire. Nonito, also known as “The Filipino Flash”, expressed his disappointment that both are joining forces to not go against him.
Nonito thinks that Sakata and Daisuke will only fight co-Japanese fighters so that the glory and the championship crown will remain or revolve around their hometown. Nonito once declared that if you are a true champion you must be willing to stand up for it no matter where and when the challenge comes from. This was on the virtue that the Filipino boxer challenged the two and got no response from both.
Sakata who has a professional record of 32-4-2 with 15 knockouts will defend his title against another Japanese boxer, Hiroyuki Histaka who has a 16-6-1, and 5 KO’s record. Histaka may be ranked number 3 and just won a bout against Hussein Hussein but previously he has been losing fights including to one Filipino boxer Wyndel Janiola.
On the other hand, Naito with a 32-2-3, and 20 knockouts will defend his title against Tomonobu Shimizu also a Japanese. But Shimizu is not even part of the top ten not to mention his unimpressive record of 13-2 with 5 knockouts of professional boxing record.
Nonito Donaire was increasingly disappointed with these two unwilling Japanese fighters when he continued to offer and expressed that he can voluntarily go to Japan to challenge them both.
