Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight, Not Going to Happen Soon

The set deadline for Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The set deadline for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to make up his mind and strike a deal with Manny Pacquiao passed without a word from the Mayweather camp.Manny Pacquiao>

A day after the deadline, Mayweather issued a statement saying, “I’m not interested in rushing to do anything.”

When Mayweather appeared in Miami to serve as a coach for a charity game that was hosted by Alonzo Mourning and Dwayne Wade, he was happily answering questions about the NBA. However, when the questions headed for the boxing ring – regarding Manny Pacquiao, in particular – Mayweather simply ignored the questions.floyd mayweather jr

Top Rank Promotions set a deadline for Mayweather to strike a deal early Saturday, July 17. However, Mayweather’s camp did not respond to the deadline, nor give any comment whatsoever. The fight is expected to be the richest fight in the history of boxing, as both players are clearly the biggest stars in the boxing world today. Unfortunately, despite months of negotiations between both parties, no deal has been made.

According to Mayweather, “I’m not really thinking about boxing right now… I’m just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I’m just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation.”

As for Pacquiao, he has already agreed to the extensive drug testing as well as the split of equitable earnings from the megafight.
