Possible Pacquiao-Cotto Rematch

Manila, Philippines – If Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Manila, Philippines – If Floyd Mayweather Jr. is actually pushing through with his second retirement, Manny Pacquiao can always fight whomever he wants to.Manny Pacquiao>

Reports have surfaced that Mayweather Jr. has once more gone into retirement; Pacquiao, on the other hand, witnessed Miguel Cotto gain the WBA super-welterweight championship belt after he defeated Yuri Foreman. If reports about Mayweather Jr. are true, then Pacquiao may be facing Cotto for a rematch, said Bob Arum.

As far as Arum is concerned, the second Pacquiao-Cotto match is still a Plan B, mainly because Top Rank is not exactly buying the news about Mayweather’s episode of going back into retirement that was announced by the magazine, The Examiner.

Pacquiao’s chief adviser, Michael Koncz, was able to discuss a little about the possible rematch between Pacquiao and Cotto, and is said to look into the matter, stating that they are going to “see what happens” regarding Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent.

If and when Pacquiao faces Cotto once more, he will be able to take a shot at being the “Eight Wonder” for earning a title for eight boxing weight classes. So far, Pacquiao has earned the distinction of being the only fighter who has seven world titles – one for a different weight class – in boxing history.
