After the collapse of the much anticipated Pacquiao versus Mayweather Jr. mega-match, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is being called a variety of names by the media.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have his reasons for sticking to his arguments for not sealing the deal on the supposed match in March against Manny Pacquiao. However, since the match has been called off, Mayweather has been receiving both criticism and new names.
According to Examiner.com’s Brad Cooney, one of the headlines says it all: “Mayweather seals up coward legacy.”
Scoop Malinowski of BoxingInsider.com adds his own headline to the bunch with, “Floyd pulls off biggest duck in boxing history.” Then there is Michael Marley who coined an ingenious new meaning for KFC. Apparently KFC now means “Kentucky Floyd Chicken” and it comes with an image of a crisp whole fried chicken with Mayweather’s mug shot on it.
Although Marley does not really believe that Mayweather is a chicken, but he sees him as more of a capon or a duck. Since Mayweather refused to fight Pacquiao, most mediamen foresee that Mayweather’s will go down in history as the man who did some cherry picking when it came to his opponents in order to gain some advantage, as well as the undefeated fighter who fought with smaller guys but walked away from a superfight worth 30 million dollars. Instead of being remembered as one of the greatest fighters, he may be remembered as the fighter who never really wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao in the first place.
