Filipino boxer and boxing champion Manny Pacquiao believes that the anticipated fight between him and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. will not happen because the latter wants nothing of him.
Pacquiao is currently in training for his fight with [[Miguel Cotto on the second week of November. The two are set to meet in Las Vegas. Taking a break from training, Pacquiao took time to consider his chances of meeting Mayweather on the ring. Despite the fact that the matchup would result in huge financial profit for both parties, Pacquiao thinks it will not happen.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen”, said the pound-for-pound champion. “I’m sure he doesn’t want to fight.”
On the other end, advisers for Mayweather have not ruled out the possibility of a fight with Pacquiao. The American fighter’s camp also claims that Mayweather has never ducked anybody and is willing to consider any opponent. Regardless, Pacquiao has some strong opinions regarding the matter.
“Boxing for him is like a business”, said Pacquiao. “He doesn’t care if the fight is boring, as long as the fight is finished and he gets money. I want people to be happy. You have a big responsibility as a boxer.”
If the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight does not occur, Sugar Shane Mosely has also been angling for a fight with Mayweather.
