Amir Khan is confident that he can topple three-weight world boxing champion Marco Antonio Barrera after the announcement of his bout with the Mexican slated for March 14 in Manchester was made. Khan has recently returned from an extensive training camp in California under famed boxing coach Freddie Roach, where he has also had the opportunity to talk and train with WBC super featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao, whom he claimed gave him a few tips on how to beat the formidable Mexican.>
“Manny’s been giving me some great advice,” said 22-year-old Khan. “We sparred a lot ahead of my last fight, and he’s had some input this time around as well.”
“Obviously he’s beaten Barrera before, and he’s given me some good tips,” he added. Pacquiao has already beaten Barrera twice.
Barrera, for his part, is confident that he can topple Khan, saying, “I will beat Khan because I have more experience than him and I’m still a much better fighter than he is,” adding that Khan’s youth will be no match for Barrera’s extensive experience on and off the ring. After losing to Manny in 2007, Barrera proved to his critics that retirement was not in the horizon when he defeated Sammy Ventura after four rounds two months ago
