Yordenis Ugas Scheduled to Fight Against Eimantas Stanionis
Yordenis Ugas hits Manny Pacquiao in a welterweight championship boxing match Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, in Las Vegas.

With the success Yordenis Ugas has been achieving, he became an instant celebrity and an in-demand boxer for many great boxers to fight against with.

The World Boxing Association has recently ordered the Super World welterweight champion to fight against Eimantas Stanionis in March 2022. This would also feature Jamal James defending his World strap welterweight champion belt against the challenger Radzhab Butaev.

Although the rematch between Ugas and Manny Pacquiao is still in talks, still WBA decided to let the Ugas-Stanionis fight happen. Pacquiao has already requested the rematch because he was not at his best performance when his leg cramped during their match. If Ugas will be bound in a fight with Stanionis, then his rematch with Pacquiao will be hanging in the air. At the same time, if his fight with Pacquiao is almost impossible to happen, the People’s Champion Pacquiao might retire.

Unfortunately for Ugas, he is now stuck to an unproven boxer, so this means there’s no money being laid on the table because neither of them could sell their fight on pay-per-view. If he pursues the rematch fight with Pacquiao, then it might earn him millions of dollars again. However, the possibility for the Ugas-Stanionis fight is most likely to happen, because WBA orders Ugas to do so.

Eimantas Stanionis is a Lithuanian boxer, who won a gold medal at the 2015 European Boxing Championships. Stanionis has a record of 14 fights with 13 wins and 1 draw. Meanwhile, Ugas 31 fights with 27 wins and 4 losses.
