The match between Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman has officially been set for July 20, 2019. Many fans are now hoping that this fight will push through after initial talks of a Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch did not come into fruition.
Pacquiao Set to Earn Another World Title?
It seems that the much anticipated rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will no longer happen as the former has set on staying in retirement. Mayweather has been absent in the sport for four years now and is not set on returning to action. While both seasoned boxers were set to earn massive paychecks should a rematch happen, fans will have to sit back down as this is not going to happen anytime soon. Manny Pacquiao has now set his sights on fighting the undefeated Keith Thurman and this match has been officially announced plus set for July 20, 2019. This announcement was made during the Julian Williams vs Jarrett Hurd broadcast and would be aired via FOX Sports Pay-Per-View.
Pacquiao Eyed another Fight for July
After his uanimous decision win over Adrien Broner back in January 19, Manny already said that he intended to have another fight in July. This would be the time when he would get time off from his senatorial job in the Philippines.
In fact, all eyes were on Pacquiao as he went ringside to watch Errol Spence Jr. Fight against Mikey Garcia in Arlington back in March. There was even a joint interview made with Spence talking about a prospective fight between the two players. However, a different opponent was eyed by PCB and Team Pacquiao even though Spence was very much all for the fight to happen.
Thurman Enthusiastic for Fight against the Legend Pac Man
From past interviews, it was clear from the get go that Keith Thurman wants this fight above anyone else. Thurman stands at 29-0 with 22 KOs. He also just defended his 147-pound world title for the fifth time after winning against Josesito Lopez back in January 26. After the figh, Thurman said that he wanted to fight Pacquiao, who also happens to be his mandatory challenger thanks to the secondary belt that he holds.
Thurman even has high hopes for this fight, especially being a younger boxer, and also having a history of defeating other top opponents in the field the likes of Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. In an interview with Thurman, he expressed that should the fight between him and Manny present itself, he would definitely be up for it. He even said that Pacquiao will no longer be in the sport for the years to come and states that he is looking forward to fighting a legend.
Fight between Pacquiao and Thurman Bound to Become Headlines
This is going to be a blockbuster showdown, following the term used by Showtime in their announcement. Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion and he’ll be fighting against undefeated WBA Welterweight World Champion, Keith “One Time” Thurman.The fight will take place in Las Vegas but no specific site has been formally announced as of yet.
