NIT

NIT is an accronym for National Invitation Tournament. It is a basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association or the NCAA participated by male college students.

It is held at the Madison Square Garden in New York in March and April, annually.

The tournament was formed in 1938 and was originally considered the most prestigious college basketball post-season showcase. It was founded by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
