The term ‘stretch’ refers to the players’ ability to shoot furthest from the basket. The Stretch Four player is also known for their outside shooting. ‘Four’ refers to the Power Forward’s Number 4 position in play.
The Stretch Four player is a fairly recent innovation in the National Basketball Association but more and more coaches are now using the strategy.
One of the more well-known Stretch Fours of recent times is Dirk Nowitzki. The 7-foot-tall player was known for his outside shooting capabilities.
