The Point Guard is a position of the offensive team usually played by a guard. It is also known as The One or PG.

This player is designated to bring the ball up the court and initiate the offensive move of his team. The point guard of a team is usually the best passer and ball-handler.

In basketball, this player is also known as, “the coach on the floor” because he needs to know how to control the pace, run the offense, and distribute the ball.

This player is required to do many things on the court and their role is more team-focused instead of defense or defense-focused.

In the NBA, John Stockton, Bob Cousy, and Magic Johnson are considered some of the best pure point guards in history.
