The Sacramento Kings are a storied professional basketball team based in Sacramento, California. Competing in the NBA Summer League, they represent the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. As the oldest franchise in the NBA, the Kings have a rich history that began back in 1923.
History
Originating in Rochester, New York as the Rochester Seagrams, the team underwent several name changes and relocations throughout its history. In 1945, they became the Rochester Royals and joined the National Basketball League, transitioning to the Basketball Association of America in 1948. During their time in Rochester, they achieved significant success, clinching the NBA championship in 1951.However, facing challenges in the small market of Rochester, the franchise moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1957, rebranding as the Cincinnati Royals. After another unsuccessful stint, the team relocated to Kansas City in 1972 and took on the name Kansas City Kings. Again, profitability issues led to another move, this time to Sacramento in 1985, where they have remained ever since. Interestingly, the Kings are the only team to have never trailed in any NBA Finals series, a fact they hold proudly since the 2013 NBA Finals.
Stadium
The Kings host their home games at the Golden 1 Center, a modern arena that opened its doors in 2016. This venue not only showcases the team’s thrilling performances but also serves as a hub for community events and activities, enhancing the overall fan experience. The arena’s state-of-the-art features and vibrant atmosphere make it a prime destination for basketball fans.Coach and Team Identity
Under the guidance of head coach Mike Brown, the Kings are focused on building a competitive roster that can contend in the league. With a commitment to fostering young talent and implementing strategic game plans, Brown aims to elevate the team's performance to new heights.Draped in colors of deep purple (#5a2b81) and a cool gray (#63727a), the Kings symbolize royalty and perseverance. Their nickname, "Kings," reflects not only their regal identity but also their aspiration to reclaim a place among the elite teams in the NBA.
The Sacramento Kings continue to be a beacon of hope for their dedicated fanbase, who passionately support the team through thick and thin. As they embark on each season, the Kings' commitment to excellence and their rich legacy remains as strong as ever.
