High School and College Career
Thabeet attended Cypress Christian School in Houston, Texas. He then played college basketball at the University of Connecticut from 2006 to 2009.
There he earned numerous accolades including two NABC Defensive Player of the Year awards (2008, 2009), Big East co-Player of the Year (2009), and was named a Consensus second-team All-American (2009).
Professional Career
Selected second overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2009 NBA Draft, Thabeet struggled to meet expectations. He played for several NBA teams including the Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Oklahoma City Thunder before transitioning to international basketball.
He has since played in Japan, Taiwan, and various other leagues, currently playing for Dar City in his home country.
