Blume attended Parkrose High School in Portland, where he was a standout player, leading his team to a 25-1 record and a third-place finish in the state tournament in 1977.He later joined Oregon State University in 1977 as part of a talented freshman class under Coach Ralph Miller.
During his four-year tenure, the Beavers compiled an impressive record of 86-27 and made two NCAA tournament appearances. Blume was a key contributor to these successful seasons, earning All-American honors in 1980 and being named First-team All-Pac-10 in both 1980 and 1981.
Professional Career
Selected 36th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 1981 NBA Draft, Blume was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls.He played one season with the Bulls, appearing in 49 games and averaging 4.6 points per game. After his brief stint in the NBA, Blume played professionally in Europe, including a season with Monaco.
Following his professional basketball career, Blume returned to Portland, Oregon, and began working in the public sector for the Multnomah County Roads Department. He has remained involved in basketball through his work with AAU teams.
