High School and College Career
Hairston attended Renaissance High School in Detroit, Michigan. He was a top 10-rated recruit and played in the 2004 McDonald's All-American game.Considered a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, Hairston was listed as the No. 1 shooting guard and the No. 7 player in the nation in 2004.
He committed to play college basketball for the University of Oregon, where he played from 2004 to 2008.
At Oregon, Hairston became one of only eleven players in school history to record 1,500 points and 500 rebounds in his career. He scored a career-high 29 points twice in his senior season in 2007-08.
Professional Career
Hairston was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 48th overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2008 NBA Draft. He was subsequently traded to the San Antonio Spurs.He split his first professional season in 2008-09 between the Spurs and their NBA D-League affiliate Austin Toros.
After being released by the Spurs in 2010, Hairston continued his career overseas. He played for Montepaschi Siena in Italy from 2010 to 2011, helping the team reach the EuroLeague quarterfinals.
From 2011 to 2013, Hairston played for another Italian team Olimpia Milano. He then had stints in Turkey with Galatasaray in 2013-14, Greece with AEK Athens in 2015-16, Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem in 2017, and France with Fos Provence Basket from 2018 to 2019 before retiring.
