Professional Career

Williams was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 1975 NBA Draft.

His breakthrough came after joining the Seattle SuperSonics in 1977, where he became a key player in their championship run. In the 1979 NBA Finals, he averaged 28.6 points per game, helping the Sonics defeat the Washington Bullets.

He sat out the entire 1980-81 season due to a contract dispute.

Upon his return, he continued his strong play, earning two NBA All-Star selections (1982, 1983). He later played for the Washington Bullets and Atlanta Hawks before retiring in 1987.
