Chris Mullin is a former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association for the Golden State Warriors and the Indiana Pacers. From 2015 to 2019, he also coached the basketball team at his Alma Mater – St. John’s University.

While in the NBA, Mullin was named an NBA All-Star five times. The Golden State Warriors also retired jersey number 17 in his honor.

Christopher Paul Mullin was born on July 30, 1963, in New York City, New York in the United States of America. He stands 198 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 91 kg. He is right-handed and he played small forward and shooting guard.

As a youth, he admired the games of Wilt Frazier and Earl Monroe.

He is married to Elizabeth Mullin and they have four kids together. Mullin is close friends with fellow NBA player Manute Bol.

High School and College Career

He attended Power Memorial High School in his hometown of New York City, New York. Later, he attended Xaverian in Brooklyn, New York.

Mullin committed to play college basketball for St. John’s University and was there from 1981 to 1985. He won the Haggerty Award thrice and in 1983, he was named the Big East Tournament MVP.

In 1985, he was also named the USBWA Player of the Year and he was also given the John R. Wooden Award. When he retired, the St. John’s Red Storm team also honored his jersey number.

Professional Career

In 1985, Mullin was selected in the 1st round of the 1985 NBA Draft. He was chosen 7th overall by the Golden State Warriors.

He played for the Warriors from 1985 to 1997. In that time, he was named an NBA All-Star five times. In 1992, he was also named to the All-NBA First Team. In 1989 and 1991, he was also named to the All-NBA Second Team.

From 1997 to 2000, he played for the Indiana Pacers then for his last season in the NBA (2000-2001), he returned to playing for the Warriors.

Mullin retired in 2001. In his honor, the Warriors also retired jersey number 17.

He returned to basketball in 2015 and started coaching the Red Storm team in 2015. He was their coach through to 2019.
