James Johnson

James Johnson is a professional basketball player from the United States of America. In 2009, he was drafted into the National Basketball Association by the Chicago Bulls. He has played for a number of NBA teams, most recently for the Indiana Pacers. He has also played in the NBA G League.

James Patrick Johnson was born on February 20, 1987, in Cheyenne, Wyoming in the United States. He stands 201 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 109 kg.

He is a right-handed player and he has been a Power Forward, Small Forward, and Center.

He is of American and Samoan heritage and he holds a black belt in karate. In 2014, he was arrested for charges of domestic assault. They were later dropped and he and his wife would go on to divorce.

High School and College Career

He attended Cheyenne East High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Later, he committed to play college basketball for Wake Forest University and was there from 2007 to 2009.

While in college, he was twice named to the Third-team All-ACC.

Professional Career

Johnson turned pro in 2009 when he was selected 16th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. He would later sign with the Bulls and he would also play for the NBA G League affiliate team, the Iowa Energy.

Since 2011, he has jumped from one team to another and he has played for the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Brooklyn Nets. His most recent team is the Indiana Pacers. He has been playing for them since 2022.
