Professional Career
Kim Anderson began his professional basketball career as a player with Libertas Forlì in Italy from 1977 to 1978.Anderson was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 28th overall pick in the 1977 NBA Draft. He played 21 games for the Trail Blazers in the 1978-79 season, averaging 1.1 points per game.
After his brief NBA stint, Anderson played professionally in Italy and France from 1979 to 1982, returning to Libertas Forlì for the 1979–1980 season. He then finished his playing career with Mulhouse in France from 1981 to 1982.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Anderson transitioned into coaching.He began as an assistant coach at the University of Missouri from 1982 to 1985 before moving on to Baylor University, where he served as an assistant from 1985 to 1991. Anderson then returned to Missouri as an assistant coach from 1991 to 1999.
In 2002, Anderson took on his first head coaching position at the University of Central Missouri, where he remained until 2014.
During his tenure at Central Missouri, Anderson achieved significant success, leading the team to four MIAA regular season championships (2005, 2007, 2010, and 2014) and two MIAA Tournament championships (2009, 2014).
He was also named MIAA Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2010. The pinnacle of his career at Central Missouri came in 2014 when he led the team to the NCAA Division II National Championship and was named NABC Division II Coach of the Year.
Following his successful stint at Central Missouri, Anderson returned to the University of Missouri as the head coach from 2014 to 2017. He then moved on to Pittsburg State University, where he served as the head coach from 2017 to 2022.
