Kenny Anderson is a former American professional basketball player and current coach who played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association. His career in the NBA spanned from 1991 to 2006, playing with teams like the Charlotte Hornets, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, and many more. As of 2024, he is the head coach for Fisk University.
In 1994, he was named an NBA All-Star while with the New Jersey Nets.

He was primarily raised by his mother and did not meet his father until he was in his 30s.He has seven kids with four women. In 2005, he filed for bankruptcy. In 2013, he reported that he was sexually abused as a kid. He suffered from a stroke in 2019.
High School and College Career
He attended Archbishop Molly High School in New York City. While there, he received All-American honors and was named to the First-team Parade All-American in 1988 and again in 1989. He was also named 1989’s Gatorade Player of the Year and was Mr. Basketball USA for that year as well.Considered one of the top recruits when he became a senior in high school, he received a number of college offers but ultimately chose to attend Georgia Tech from 1989 to 1991.
In 1990, he was named the ACC Rookie of the Year and he was also named to the 1991 Consensus first-team All-American. Other honors he received while in college, included being named to the second-team All-American NABC.
Professional Career
Anderson turned professional in 1991 and was the 2nd overall pick of the draft, chosen by the New Jersey Nets. He played with the Nets from 1991 to 1996. In 1994, he was named an NBA All-Star.From 1996 to 2005, he signed with eight NBA teams, he played with the Portland Trail Blazers for three seasons and the Boston Celtics for five seasons. For the rest of the teams, he would play with them for a season each or would be signed but eventually waived or traded within a few months. The Los Angeles Clippers was the last team he signed with before leaving the NBA.
For the 2005-2006 season, he played for the Lithuanian team, Basketball Club Zalgiris.
Post-Playing Career
After retiring, Anderson has held various coaching positions, including a stint in the Continental Basketball Association with Atlanta Krunk. Since 2018, he has been the head coach at Fisk University, a historically black university in Nashville, Tennessee.Career Highlights
