In 1975, he was named the Big Eight Player of the Year. The Oklahoma Sooners also retired his jersey number to honor him.

Professional Career

He was drafted into the NBA during the 1975 NBA Draft, selected by the Phoenix Suns. He spent the entirety of his professional playing career with the Suns.

In 1976, he was named the NBA Rookie of the Year and he was also named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. In the same year, he was named an NBA All-Star.

Adams scored a total of 13,910 points with the Suns and is the career leader in games played (988), minutes played (27,203), rebounds (6,937), and steals (1,289).
