Jose Juan Barea is a professional basketball player from Puerto Rico who plays in the position of point guard. He weighs 175 lbs and is 6 feet tall. His education was carried out at Miami Christian High School and Northeastern College.

Barea has taken part in the National Superior Basketball, National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Basketball Association. Although, he attempted the 2006 NBA draft, he remained undrafted. Further, he played in the NBA Vegas Summer League and was then chosen by the Dallas Mavericks. In this way, he became the 7th player from Puerto Rico to play in the NBA.

The Puerto Rico national basketball team won the Gold Medal in the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games and Barea was a part of this squad. This team won the Silver Medal in the 2007 Pan American Games. Barea was the starting point guard of the 2nd squad.
