During his career, he has been associated with the following teams – Otago Nuggets (1993-95), UNLV (1996-2000), Fenerbahce (2002-03), Telindus Oostende (2003), Fenerbahce (2003-04), Erdemirspor (2004-05), Lokomotiv Rostov (2005-06), Anwil Wloclawek (2006-07), Maroussi (2007), Brose Baskets (2007), Mutlu Aku Selcuk Universitesi (2008) and Trikala 2000 BC (2008-09). From 1996 to 2000, Dickel participated in college basketball in the US at UNLV. During his freshman year in 1996-97, he led the team in assists. In the year 2000, he was called as an Associated Press All American.
When he began his professional career, he was called Rookie of the Year for Otago Nuggets. In 2002-03, when he was representing Fenerbahce, he led the TBL in assists. In the same year, he was named Guard of the Year in Turkey and Eurobasket MVP. During the year 2004-05, when he was a member of Erdemirspor, he had statistics of 9 assists and 19.6 points.
