Yaroslav Korolev began his professional career in 2004 as a member of CSKA Moscow for whom he played in the 2004-05 season. During the 2005 NBA draft, he was selected by Los Angeles Clippers in the 1st round. He was the 12th pick and overall 12th pick.
On 6th July 2007, he signed a contract to continue with the Clippers for 2 more years. However, in September 2007, this contract was cancelled by the Clippers. In the preseason, he rejoined the Clippers on a non-guaranteed contract, but before the season started, he was waived. Korolev made a contract with Dynamo Moscow in December 2007 and currently he plays for this team.
