Tim Thomas is a former American professional basketball player who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He last played for the Dallas Mavericks during the 2009-2010 season.

Thomas attended Paterson Catholic High School in Paterson, New Jersey. He then played one season of college basketball for Villanova University from 1996–1997.

In 1996, he was named a McDonald’s All-American. In 1997, he was also named the Big East Freshman of the Year.

Professional Career

Thomas was selected as the 7th overall pick in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets. His playing career spanned from 1997 to 2010, during which he played for several NBA teams.

Thomas began his professional journey with the Philadelphia 76ers from 1997 to 1999. He then had a significant stint with the Milwaukee Bucks from 1999 to 2004.

Following this, he played for the New York Knicks (2004-2005), Chicago Bulls (2005-2006), and briefly for the Phoenix Suns in 2006.

Thomas then joined the Los Angeles Clippers from 2006 to 2008, before returning to the Knicks for the 2008-2009 season. He had a short second spell with the Bulls in 2009 and finished his playing career with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2009-2010 season.

After retiring as a player, Thomas transitioned into coaching. As of 2023, he began his coaching career at Paramus Catholic High School.
