Leandro Barbosa is a Brazilian former professional basketball player and current assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association. He has twice won an NBA Championship, the first time as a player and the second time as a coach.

Leandro Mateus Barbosa was born on November 28, 1982, in São Paulo, Brazil. He stands 192 cm tall and his playing weight was listed at 88 kg. Barbosa played primarily as a shooting guard and point guard.

He has two daughters with actress Samara Felippo. In 2019, he married model Talita Rocca.

Professional Career

Barbosa began his professional career in Brazil with Palmeiras/Tilibra before being drafted 28th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2003 NBA Draft and immediately traded to the Phoenix Suns.

He spent his first seven NBA seasons with the Suns, winning the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award.

Throughout his NBA career, Barbosa played for several teams, including the Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, and Boston Celtics. He had three separate stints with the Phoenix Suns and won an NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2015.

After his NBA career, Barbosa returned to Brazil to play for Franca and Minas before retiring in 2020.

Post-Playing Career

Following his retirement, Barbosa joined the Golden State Warriors as a player mentor coach in 2020. In 2022, he became an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings.

In 2022, he won his second NBA Championship, this time as a coach.
