Jake Bornheimer

Jacob "Jake" Bornheimer was an American professional basketball player who played two seasons in the National Basketball Association for the Philadelphia Warriors during the league's early years.

Jacob Bornheimer was born on June 29, 1927, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA. He stood 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 200 pounds during his playing career.

Bornheimer came from a family with a basketball background. His older brother Bill Bornheimer played college basketball at Georgetown University from 1940 to 1942 and later competed professionally in the ABL and other independent leagues.

After high school, Bornheimer joined the U.S. Navy in the summer of 1945 during the closing months of World War II.

High School and College Career

Bornheimer played prep basketball at St. Peter the Apostle High School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He gained recognition for his athletic ability and leadership on the court.

He continued his basketball career at Muhlenberg College during the 1946-47 season. Although he played only one collegiate season, his performance was strong enough to earn him a chance to play professionally.

Professional Career

Bornheimer began his professional career with the Philadelphia Warriors in the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which later became the NBA.

He debuted on November 2, 1948, and played two seasons with the team from 1948 to 1950.

Bornheimer also participated in four playoff games during his time with the Warriors.
