Dexter Boney is an American former professional basketball player who played in the Continental Basketball Association, and internationally, with a brief stint in the National Basketball Association with the Phoenix Suns.

Dexter Boney was born on April 27, 1970, in Wilmington, Delaware, the USA. He stood 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 185 pounds during his playing career.

Boney played as a guard, primarily at shooting guard, and shot right-handed. Known for his explosive first step and scoring ability, he was nicknamed "Silk." Boney is married with two sons and resides in Fresno, California.

High School and College Career

Boney attended Brandywine High School in Wilmington, Delaware, where he was named all-state three times and set the boys’ scoring record in Delaware with over 2,000 points.

He began his college career at Hagerstown Community College. He then transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he played from 1991 to 1993. He was named First-Team All-Big West in 1993.

Professional Career

Boney went undrafted in the 1993 NBA Draft but began his professional career with the Mexico Aztecas.

He played for several teams in the CBA and overseas, including the Florida Beach Dogs. The Dinamo Sassari in Italy, Las Vegas Silver Bandits, Idaho Stampede, Elitzur Ashkelon in Israel, Alaska Aces in the Philippines, Toros de Aragua in Venezuela, Besançon BCD in France, and Fargo-Moorhead Beez.

Boney’s most notable professional season came in 1996–97 with the Florida Beach Dogs, where he was named CBA Most Valuable Player. He was also a CBA All-Star, All-Star Game MVP, and named to the All-CBA First Team that year.

Boney played eight games for the Phoenix Suns during the 1996–97 NBA season. He last played professionally with the Fargo-Moorhead Beez in 2002.
