Nnaji grew up in Makurdi, Nigeria, where he started playing basketball. In 2018, he moved to the Ratgeber Basketball Academy in Hungary to further develop his skills. He played for them from 2019 to 2020.
Professional Career
Nnaji began his professional career with FC Barcelona B in the 2020-21 season. He quickly progressed to FC Barcelona’s main team, making his EuroLeague debut in the 2021-22 season.
On August 4, 2024, Nnaji was loaned to Girona of the Spanish Liga ACB to gain more playing time and continue his development.
Nnaji declared for the 2023 NBA Draft and was selected 31st overall by the Detroit Pistons. His rights were subsequently traded to the Charlotte Hornets, who retain his NBA rights while he continues to play in Europe.
