Johnson turned pro in 2021. He was selected in the 1st round, 21st overall of the 2021 NBA Draft, picked by the New York Knicks. He also played in the NBA G League for the Agua Caliente Clippers.From 2022 to 2023, he played for the Portland Trail Blazers then in 2023, he signed a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets that also allowed him to play for the Long Island Nets in the G League.
As of 2024, he still plays for both teams.
